Nevada Hispanic Business Group – Board Member

My career and entrepreneur journey started when I was a teenager just graduated High School in New York. I wanted to take on different challenges than my friends who all were off to college. I decided to pursue opening a business – what a challenge that was. I owned and operated a small business at the age of 18. I grew that business

over several years and eventually sold it.

As I was deciding what would be next for me. It was the financial industry, with no experience and no college background or degree. It was very difficult to land a position after hundreds of interviews. I finally was hired as a mailroom clerk for a leading wall street firm.

Many times, I thought about leaving my mailroom position – however, I knew if I could continue to network with the right people and learn from them I could advance into other positions. So that was my mission to work hard, network, learn and have a do not give up attitude. Here I am after a lengthy career in the financial industry, leading several large firms as an executive director managing their global operations. I now spend my time helping firms as a business consultant – designing business plans, testing systems, and putting operational protocols in place. As well as volunteering as a board member for the Nevada Hispanic Business Group.

The true test of success comes when you run up against challenges. I see times of testing as opportunities. I am reminded of the words of the great Henry Ford: “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
